For some reason I just have a ridiculous amount of traditions in December. My favorite, however, is my annual blanket fort that I set up in my living room.

The dogs have used a couple of my favorite sheets as chew toys this last year and a good portion of my lights are shorting out, so my fort isn’t quite as magical this year as in years past, but it’s still pretty freaking cozy. I’m thinking I’ll stock up on new lights this year after Christmas when they go on sale. And maybe stop letting the dogs lay on my sheets. haha!

I’ll be hanging out here for the remainder of the month if you guys need me. And hey, you should probably go build your own fort! Snap a photo and tag me on instagram (@indiejane) if you do…you’re never too old for a blanket fort!

You can find all my fort photos here: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.

Pssst! Don’t forget there’s one more day to enter the giveaway for this beautiful statement necklace! Winner will be announced tomorrow! :)

I have never been good at building blanket forts. Yours always look bomb-awesome. Any tips from the master? :)

    • Fitted sheets work best because they can “hook” onto things, like the leg of a couch or a barstool! And I cheat a bit and use my backdrop stand for the middle support, but you could prop a curtain rod on something tall and get the same effect. ;)

  2. I love blanket forts and yours looks soo cozy! Last year I made my husband one for his birthday in January. I surprised him by turning our whole bedroom into a fort and we watched the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in it. Haha, I got the idea from your fort last Christmas!

  4. Oh my gosh!! I LOVE forts and this is awesome! Girl of my own heart.
I might be buying an extra curtain rod.
