The last several years I’ve had a navy/green/silver/turquoise sort of theme going. Since I don’t have those colors in my living room anymore, I decided to start fresh. So I shopped for Christmas ornaments.
I found pretty much none that I liked. I learned I don’t like “typical” Christmas colors or ornaments. So I found things that I did like…birds, florals, and feathers.
The end result is what I have dubbed “The Un-Christmas Tree”. It looks like I’m ready for Spring. Hardcore Christmas fans will probably disapprove strongly, but I love it!
I made the “garland” by tearing a vintage sheet into strips and tying it together. Feather and glitter ornaments were made by me (kept the glitter on the inside = no messes!), the tree topper was an owl piggy bank I thrifted and painted, the key ornaments were found at Walmart and painted, the paper hearts were made from pages from an old hymnal I found, and I got all the flowers from Hobby Lobby.
And the tree skirt is a vintage tablecloth given to me by a sweet blog reader. It’s so perfect!!
I didn’t really go all out on decorating. I figured my tree isn’t very “wintery”, so I put a scarf on my owl and found some cute letters for me and the dogs. (Amanda, Baron, Eden, Jane, Koen.) And obviously some Christmas candies and a winter candle.
Yea. I’m festive.

Shot a little wedding ceremony and some portraits for this sweet couple’s big day last weekend. Carli made such a beautiful bride!

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I decided to do share recent thrifty finds today instead.
I’m a rule breaker.
I literally leapt over Heather and screamed “MINE THIS ONE’S MINE!” when I saw that suitcase. It’s one of my favorite thrifted finds now. Totally worth plowing over your best friend for.
I definitely tried on a wedding dress after the suitcase incident (I thought it was funny) and Heather left after that. I don’t know how I have friends.
And I thought both blankets were really pretty. I’d like the hang the crochet one in a doorway…just need to make sure the dogs don’t try to destroy it..

Oh man. Where to begin. haha.
I have WAY too much craft stuff. I mean, technically I use it all…but man. Sometimes it looks like Hobby Lobby threw up in my spare room.
I did have most of the stuff buried in drawers, but I’m such a visual person if it’s not RIGHT THERE, I forget I have it. So I resorted back to using crates as shelves. (I swear I use crates to store practically everything in my house.)
Fun back story to the sewing table: I’ve been on the hunt for one for MONTHS now. I was literally using a TV tray for the time being. My mom and I were setting up some stuff for my pipes for winter and had to rummage around my grandpa’s old shed a bit. (I don’t ever go in there. Toooo many creatures.) Low and behold, there sat my great-great-grandma’s sewing table. I talked my mom and my uncle into moving it out so I could clean it (thanks guys!) and found it still had the original sewing machine in it. Pretty. Freakin. Awesome.
The large table was given to me by my mom (it was in the house I grew up in) and the white dresser was left by my grandpa when he moved out.
By the way, there are few things I appreciate more than hand-me-down or vintage furniture.
Anyway.. I’ve rambled enough! This is possibly my favorite room in my house, so I’m excited to share it!
