It cracks me up how many different kinds of weddings I’ve done this summer. Classic, folky, Rock-a-billy, earthy, etc.

So now I introduce… The Redneck Wedding. ;)

Abby took me out to see where the ceremony would take place a few weeks before the wedding and started telling me all the details of her “redneck wedding”. I was cracking up! There were cowboy boots, tractors, and country music galore. ;)

In all seriousness, I think Abby found a perfect balance between classy and fun. I loved all the personal touches that made it their day.

And the girl is so pretty. It makes me sick.

I’ll have a few more photos from their day-after session up soon. They were my favorites!

In OKC currently. I’ll be up with the sun in the morning for a photo shoot (seriously 3rd Tuesday in a row I’ve gotten up early for photos!) then it’s tattoo time. :)

And then…you know…back to work time. haha.

peace.

SO EXCITED to finally be sharing this day with you all! I thought Brandon and Christian had the most amazing wedding day. Despite the fact that wildfires took over and caused a last minute venue change, the day was so filled with happiness I doubt anyone even gave it a second thought. There was never a moment of panic or stress or chaos. I love a wedding where the bride and groom are so excited about the marriage that the wedding itself could go completely different as planned and it wouldn’t matter.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the day…with some added commentary. haha.

Christian’s dress was absolutely to die for. She pulled it out of the closet and I’m pretty sure I squealed. And I’m typically not a huge fan of veils, but hers was so classic and fit the look of her dress perfectly.

One of the awkward parts about being the photographer is hanging out with the bridal party and only knowing the bride. All Christian’s bridesmaids were so great…I never felt like the creepy girl walking around shoving a camera in people’s faces. ;)

Same can be said with the groomsmen. Brandon, you are surrounded by a very entertaining group of guys! Everyone was so good-spirited and hilarious. And the Braveheart shot will forever be one of my favorites!

All the earthy details with the pops of yellow…oh my goodness. And the thumbprint tree? Brandon drew it! I envy his skillz (yes, with a “z”).

The ceremony could not have been more perfect. I’ll let the images speak for themselves..

We headed off to an overlook right after the ceremony. The sun had just barely set over the mountains…so beautiful!

And…the reception. The first dance and father/daughter dance completely melted my heart.

Then things got real.

Let this photo be a lesson…NEVER allow your wedding guests to pick up as much birdseed as they want. I found birdseed in my hair two days later.

Without sounding cheesy, everything about the day just felt right. I think there’s something incredibly rewarding about not only witnessing, but capturing the beginning of a beautiful and long marriage.

Brandon and Christian, thank you SO MUCH for letting me be part of your day! And big thanks to your friends/families for being so welcoming and helpful throughout the day. :)

Kudos if you got through all that! Another wedding coming soon.

peace.

Finally on the road to getting caught up. My laptop and I will be bonding a lot this weekend.

Casady and Aaron and I braved the heat a few weeks ago for their engagement pictures. I surprisingly never heard one complaint from either of them about how hot it was…that’s quite rare for this time of year. ;)

Sneak peek!

This seems accurate… :)

I’ll be sharing Christian and Brandon’s New Mexico wedding next! Excited to FINALLY get to these!

Thought I’d take a minute to post a few vacation photos before I jump back into work. I seriously did not want to leave on Thursday. (So much so that I stayed until 3:30pm and didn’t get home until 5am. Woops. It was a loooong drive!)

I’ve only been home less than two days and I already miss everyone so much. I love this group of people, and I love how close we’ve grown since we first met in Ethiopia in 2008! I actually just realized a bit ago that we all met on 7/15/08 and our reunion started on 7/15/11…exactly 3 years later! I don’t get close to people easily, so the fact that I willingly spent a week with them means a lot. ;)

I found myself taking more photos with my phone than my camera, so I’ll post photos from both. (Sidenote: Add me on instagram! indiejane. I’m slightly addicted.)

Here are some highlights:

Thursday:

Drove 10ish hours. Saw a killer sunset right along the Kansas/Colorado border.

Friday:

Watched the final Harry Potter. Cried. Got judge by the others. Didn’t care.

Took Lesli’s Mini to downtown Denver with all the ladies for a girls night. Discovered my new favorite drink (a Southern Belle). Refrained from drinking 9 of them.

Saturday:

Toured the Bishops own personal stuffed zoo. Yes, that’s a giraffe in the back there. No big deal.

Shared my first Bloody Mary with Laura. We were not fans. I’m not giving up though, I think that one was just weird. Then shopped in downtown Littleton and I got some super cute new sunglasses.

We went to Red Rocks but it started raining and lightning…so that trip didn’t last long. But Anna and Larkin were cute.

Sunday:

Literally sat around outside for hours on end. (I miss the Colorado weather SO BAD.) The Bishops have four dogs.. Theodore (English Bulldog), Layla (Mastiff), Aspen (German Shepherd), and Jasmine (Chocolate Lab). I felt right at home!

Ate Ethiopian food for dinner. :) I missed it!
We later went to the Grizzly Rose where Laura and I discovered a new love for pineapple juice and coconut rum. Laura found a greater love for it than I did. I love her.

Monday:

We very sadly had to say goodbye to Laura and Elizabeth (jobs are stupid, guys) then headed to Boulder for some more shopping. I left with some cute new drawer pulls and a ton of hilarious cards. (I’m about to send out a mass message for addresses…I need to send cards more often!)

Part one of Cole and Chelsea’s senior pictures were later that night. I’ll avoid getting all sentimental and save that for their sneak peek post.

Tuesday:
Finished Cole and Chelsea’s pictures bright and early, then ate breakfast at a cute little spot called Snooze. (How adorable is that name?) Had to say goodbye to Gretchen and Anna after breakfast. No one was happy about it. :(

Made the drive to Colorado Springs (stopping for a few minutes at Garden of the Gods). Then it was zoo time…you know how I love a zoo.

Wednesday:

Canvas and Cocktails with the girls. Anywhere that gives me mimosas and paint brushes is my kind of place. ;) And our “funky chicken” paintings were pretty cute.

Went to the science museum. Took zero pictures there, but did watch Born to be Wild at the IMAX…a sweet documentary about two women who “adopt” and raise orphaned baby elephants and orangutans and set them free in the wild. Literally almost cried.

This was probably my favorite night of the week. We went to Red Rocks Amphitheater to watch Twilight. Between our group taking up three rows (mostly because of our massive amount of food we brought), the downpour halfway through the movie, and Cole and Chelsea making That’s What She Said jokes throughout the movie…it was a good time.

Thursday:

Drove home. Got in at 5am. It was a long and sad drive. :/

And I took a crap ton of random shots, mostly of the sky. haha.

Already can’t wait for the next reunion. I miss these people.

peace.
