Hi all!

Just sharing some more things I’ve made with my free time here lately. :)

I found some cute things at Goodwill last week…

I ended up putting the multi-colored rug in my guest bathroom, and used the vintage sheet (and some spray paint and yarn) to make over the tray I found.

I was really happy with the way it turned out!

I’ve also been meaning to make one of these for several years. It only took about 20 minutes!

On a business related note, I’ve now started booking weddings! This is kind of a huge deal…I’ve put off shooting weddings for three years, and I finally feel confident enough to do them.
If you’re interested, just email me (click “inbox” on the menu tab above) and I can send you all the info. :)

Lastly…who wants some Ethiopian coffee? :)

I still have a few bags that I brought back and I haven’t done a giveaway in awhile. Leave me a comment and I’ll pick a winner at random!

peace.

P.S. I appreciate all the positive comments regarding my news! I’m so thankful for all the support. I had a few people express concern about wanting me to do photos for them spring/summer 2012 (seniors, weddings, etc.)…I still have family that lives here, so I’ll obviously be back to visit. :) I’ll let people know at least a month or so prior to coming back to OK so dates can be booked. So no worries!

Now that most of my family and friends have heard, I can finally share this with everyone! I had to laugh at some of the guesses I got. The most popular guess was that I was adopting from Ethiopia. Someday, but certainly not now. :) Second most popular guess was that I was engaged. Unless I’m in an arranged marriage and not currently aware, that’s a no. And the third most popular guess was that I was pregnant. That one surprised me. haha. No kidlets anywhere in my near future!

There were actually a decent amount of people who guessed correctly. I’m easy to read, I guess.

So, without further ado…..

Yep. I’m gettin outta dodge!

The move won’t be happening anytime in the very near future. Ideally I would like to be moved by 2012, but there’s a lot that has to happen first. I’m not doing much planning until probably the end of the summer.

I debated between Nashville and Dallas for months and months, but really made my decision on the last night of mine and Heather’s road trip last month. I spent time in both cities that weekend, and even Heather noticed how much happier I am in Nashville. It’s always felt like home. I remember after we ate dinner in Dallas Heather and I were sitting in the backseat of Kyle’s car and it just hit me, and I looked at her said “I wanna live in Nashville.” I love Dallas, and I love visiting but I can’t see myself living there. Thus, the decision was made.

I’m super excited and terrified about taking a new turn with my career. As much as I enjoy doing seniors and engagements and families and whatnot, my heart lies in other things. My long-term goal is to eventually get an agent and work towards shooting more music artists, and possibly some commercial stuff. It’ll be a long journey but a great challenge. And Nashville feels like a perfect fit in so many ways.

So. Yep. There it is. ;)

Happy Wednesday!

Had such an incredible weekend with the Ethiopia fam in Nashville. It’s not too often that we’re able to get the WHOLE group together, so it was an awesome three days.

It’s funny how we’ve all reached that point of comfort where we were perfectly content entertaining each other. I think all we did all weekend was go out to eat for lunch (because, much to Cole’s dismay, we never got around in time for breakfast), then we’d hang out at the rental house for the rest of the day. Couldn’t have been better. I love this group of people.

(Thanks to Shay for the next few photos…Gretchen and baby Anna had already left when we did our group photo.. Sad face.)

Front step: Chelsea and Shay
Second step: Cole, Keri (with her eyes closed…we were rushed!), me, Laura, Dana
Third step: Lesli, Larkin, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Derrek

(Mammaw and her grandkids.)

I loved getting to love on all the babies this weekend. Larkin and Anna have their Aunt Amanda wrapped around their little fingers.

(Cole taught us about the DaVinci Code. I couldn’t get over the fact that he wrote his 5 backwards. I’m a child.)

After the majority of the family left Sunday night, a few of us went to see Andrew Belle at 3rd and Lindsley. It was a packed house and such a good show. I adore this man..

Drove to Dallas right after leaving Nashville on Monday (wasn’t ready to come home just yet) and spent a day hanging out there, then came home late last night to a huge box on my counter.

I do love a belated birthday gift! I was so excited! :D I love that Cole and Lesli sent a gift for the dogs too. They know me so well.

Also, got some more goodies in the mail..

I won a headband from Underground Daffodil! Also loooove the button earrings she sent. Alexa is super sweet and makes the cutest stuff…go check out her Facebook page and leave her some love. :)

I’m going to spend the rest of the day being a bum, and I promise I’m going to post the big news tonight! I’m excited to finally tell you all!!

peace.

It’s killing me how slow the last few days have gone by. I’ve been home with hardly anything to do for the last three weeks and I’m going totally crazy. I’ve watched so many movies, read two books (I hardly ever read!), and made so many things.

I made this pillowcase dress Friday night from a vintage sheet set I thrifted. And I made the suede bow belt yesterday night…I also made a darker one.

A few hairpieces from some fabric scraps..

Some Anthropologie-inspired pencils..

Some button magnets..

And I’ve been playing around more with the homemade tea bags…I made pumpkin spice ones this time. :) Gonna start experimenting with different flavors soon..

Still working on reading all the books they’ve made Disney movies out of. I read Alice in Wonderland awhile ago, finished Peter and Wendy a couple of weeks ago, and read Tarzan of the Apes before I gave it to Mr. Dillard for Christmas. This just came in the mail yesterday:

I love the cover! (Can’t really see it well…there’s a ship kind of engraved on it.) I’m super picky about the books too…I’ve tried to find decently priced first editions, but Tarzan was the only one I got lucky with. So I’ve just settled for vintage versions.

Last…went ahead and did this week’s 52weeks submission since I have a busy few days coming up. Yay for sequin fabric on sale!

Annnnnddd this is what I’ve done with my time lately. *sigh* I don’t want to complain because I very much value my alone time, and I definitely like time off…but I’m kind of over it right now. I’m so glad I get to see some of my favorite people in the world this week/weekend. I need it!

peace.
