I feel that this photo best describes the last four days.
I’ve been in mega craft mode and done absolutely nothing but make things and drink my weight in tea. I’ve watched the sun come up every morning and woken up no earlier than 1pm. It. Has. Been. Amazing.
I’ve also only left the house twice. No joke. One trip to Walmart and one trip to Goodwill with Heather. I scored some good stuffs this trip..

Vintage suitcase, some cute plates and cups, fabrics, and my new favorite pair of shoes. Also got a plaid fleece blanket and made stockings for me and the furbabies.

Far from perfect (I’m not great at sewing) but they will suffice. And let’s be realistic…the dogs could care less. (My fireplace hasn’t been cleaned in over two years.)
Also, random: I have been borderline addicted to this soundtrack the last two days.

I watched the movie the other night and I’ve had “Bare Necessities” stuck in my head ever since. I am a child. I don’t care.
Mi madre is letting us open our gifts tonight, which is kind of hilarious considering my brother and I have had to beg her to let us open them on Christmas Eve since…well, since forever. I think she feels bad for making us go to Alabama last year. (We still haven’t gotten over that trip.)
I hope everyone has an AMAZING Christmas! Get lots of fun stuff but remember the reason why we celebrate. :)
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
‘Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those whom his favor rests.’”
peace.

I will do my absolute best to make this as short as possible… I have so many things to saaay!
The road trip was QUITE awesome.
Our first stop was initially Springfield, MO but we made a slight pit stop in Tulsa so I could properly introduce Heather to the center of the universe downtown.
We are classy individuals.
It also kind of inspired another storypeople photo. There are several storypeople quotes about the “center of the universe”, but this one is my favorite.

this is the center of the universe at this moment unless you’re looking in another direction or are thinking about something from a long time ago, in which case it will wait quietly right here until you return.
Continued our journey into Springfield and got to visit Red Velvet. Prepare yourselves, because I’m about to totally nerd out..
I was SO. EXCITED. about meeting Elsie. There aren’t many people I look up to in the art industry, but I’ve been following her blog for years. She was a complete doll and I regret not getting a picture with her… I was too busy trying to keep from drooling over all the vintage dresses. The hilarious part…I didn’t even leave with a dress. I did, however, leave with this kick-ass vintage coat!
And Elsie gave us these sweet bows for making the drive to come visit. Love her.

(I have no clue what kind of face I’m making.)
Here are some shots of the store. It was precious!
After visiting the shop, we had dinner with my super talented friends, Erin, Will, and Alec. It was so awesome to finally meet Erin and Will and see Mr. Vanderboom’s shining face again.
We then began our trek to Nashville! We got to drive through St. Louis and we both flipped out when we came around a curve and saw this:
I’ve been a lot of places, but I don’t ever really see famous monuments. So to see one by surprise was pretty freaking awesome. OH! And I do want to point out that Heather drove for several hours…I was so proud of her. I think in the 2ish years I’ve known her, she’s drove like…three times. But she did splendidly.
Spent all day Saturday in Nashville.
*sigh* Oh Nashville.
I’m glad Heather was there to truly appreciate how excited I get about that city. There were squeals of glee when I saw the skyline.
We shopped a bit and hung out with my amaaazzziing Ethiopia fam (I know, I never shut up about them), then saw Dave Barnes and Drew Holcomb that night for their Christmas show. It was so good.
Oh…and…wait…is that..?
Yes. Yes, it is. That is my future husband, ladies and gentlemen. He isn’t aware yet. I’m working on it.
Sunday Heather and I shopped a bit more (finished my Christmas shopping!) and headed to Dallas. We got to my brother’s apartment and it was such a good little ending for our road trip. I am never as entertained as I am just sitting there listening to Kyle and Steven have a conversation. They’re weird. I quite like it.
We slept the majority of the day Monday, and shopped even more (oh, my poor wallet) and went out to eat Monday night. Heather and I wanted to dress up nice to celebrate the end of the road trip, so we wore dresses and heels. The boys went with us… They wore jeans and beanies.
Bless them.
Drove back Monday night and got to Heather’s just in time to see the eclipse (I had never seen one!) and then I headed home and crashed as soon as I got to my bed. Twas amazing.
SO! That brings us to today. (Or rather yesterday, I suppose…it’s 5am as I type this..) Had a quick little shoot for some promos, cleaned up the casa, and wrapped gifts.
It’s embarrassing how long it took for me to wrap those. I need more practice.
Oh! And I forgot to post my 52 weeks submission last week. I had a few favorites, but ended up going with the first one.
Anyway. It was a really great weekend, all in all. I got to see all my favorite people and spend a night (or two) in all my “home-away-from-homes”.
I am a blessed little duck.
peace.

P.S. Big news coming soon-ish. And don’t ask me about it, because I’m not telling anyone yet. I just like to tease you all..

I am laughing even as I sit here and try to put these photos into words. This was such a blast.
Props to Mr. Steven Dillard for making the two and a half hour drive for me to pour mustard on his face. And for helping me rebuild the fort (a tunnel has been added). And for bringing all his grandma’s old Elvis records. And for running around Duncan’s antique stores with me. And for encouraging me to burn things.
And and and.
Twas a fun 24 hours.
We burned the paper backdrop. No clue why, but the colors of the flames were sooo awesome..
Oh, and I had a short ‘n sweet shoot with these sweet kids last Sunday! Alyssa, Alysson, and Trevor were a complete pleasure to work with, despite my severe lack of sleep. :)
Tomorrow will consist of laundry and getting some errands run. I have a big weekend of road tripping coming up! So incredibly excited.. Heather and I leave from OKC Friday morning to spend some time in Springfield, MO. We’re planning on visiting Red Velvet, as well as seeing some sweet friends in the area. :) We head out of Springfield that night for my dear Nashville to see some of my Ethiopia ’08 family and see the Dave Barnes Christmas show on Saturday night. I absolutely LOVE him so I cannot be more excited. We leave Sunday for Dallas to visit my big brother, then back home on Monday.
Racking up some more miles on little Petri.
Bless that car.
peace.

I’m all caught up on editing, but thought I’d share some photos from last Friday.
Heather and I were driving through downtown OKC a few weeks ago and completely FLIPPED OUT when we saw all the lights!
(Okay, I flipped out.)
I got into the city last weekend and randomly decided we should go take pictures, just for kicks ‘n giggles.
Got several good ones of Heather, but I couldn’t stop being an idiot long enough to get a decent photo. Typical.

Oh…wait…I stand corrected. One decent photo. Just…one.
Speaking of me being a child…I recently started reading Peter and Wendy and I’m now inspired to start reading vintage children’s books. I have filled up my quote journal with bits and pieces from the book! Here are a few of my favorites so far:
“Would you like an adventure now or would you like to have your tea first?”
“Fairies have to be one thing or the other, because being so small they unfortunately have room for one feeling only at a time.”
“To die will be an awfully big adventure.”
“Wendy, one girl is more use than twenty boys.” ;)
And then there’s this whole adorable part where Peter thinks a kiss is called a thimble and a thimble is called a kiss, and Wendy asks for a thimble.
MELT MY HEART.
(I am so weird.)
Anyway. The book is definitely quite different than the Disney movie, that’s for sure. I’ve quite enjoyed it.
And now that I’ve rambled on about a 100 year old children’s book..
This week’s 52weeks submission:
Alright. I’m in for another lazy night with the kidlets. Hope you all have a lovely weekend. :)
peace.
