Oh, how weird it was to do these photos.
Emily is my cousin. She and her older sister (Stephanie) are probably the closest thing I’ve had to sisters my whole life. She’s only about a year and a half younger than I am, and Stephanie is only three months older than I am, so we’ve always been rather close. Emily was actually my first “model” when I really started getting into photography…I busted some photos out of the archives just to embarrass both of us..
We all start somewhere, kids. And these were just my “favorites”.
I have nothing but good things to say about Alex. I don’t think our family could have asked for a better man for our Em…he deals with our insane family quite well. And that’s saying a lot.
I’m currently on a hunt for a wedding photographer for these two. Seeing as how I’ll be a bridesmaid (YAY!), I’ll just be shooting the reception. I just need someone I trust (and Emily likes, of course) to shoot the ceremony and traditional stuff. There are a lot of freakin wedding photographers out there..
Oh! And I’ve promised a few of you that I’d get a “what’s in my camera bag” done, and I’m finally going to follow through with that. ;)
Last thing…the weather this afternoon/evening/right now makes me want to punch someone. Winter…I loathe thee.
However, I’ve been drinking ridiculous amounts of tea lately. That and being able to light my fireplace are about the only things I will accept about this cold weather business.
Anyway. I’m off to get some emails responded to. My inbox has been filling up rapidly lately.
Love you all.
peace.

I had quite a lovely day off.
I spent a ridiculous amount of time roaming around Goodwill today. I’m finally learning how to really dig for the good stuff. Found a couple of dresses that just needed a little DIY love, and a few cute shirts.
And I’ve been working on setting up a “mini-studio”. (I use that term lightly, it’s like hot lamps and some sheets. Haha.) When I get some extra money I plan on looking into getting some strobes. I’ve been a photographer for over 3 years and I’m totally clueless when it comes to artificial light. I can work with whatever the sun gives me, but I’m horrible at making light do what I want it to.
I know. It makes no sense.
Anyway…new clothes! (As if I need any more.)
Two dresses, a pretty sheer/lacy shirt, a sweatshirt, two cute belts…and a Nashville shirt. (Naturally.)
I got a cute little book too, but I have temporarily lost it because I sat it down in here..

I haven’t slept on my bed in over a month. There’s no clue what all is hiding under all those clothes. I may tackle that tomorrow..
Anyway. There’s my little Monday ramble.

Tomorrow is my last day with nothing to do until December. Busy season came late this year!
peace.

So proud of myself right meow…I managed to get so much done tonight! Cleaned the majority of the house (my room still looks like my closet exploded), swept, did laundry, set up a little mini studio in my guest room, made mashed potatoes from scratch, caught up on all my bookkeeping, showered, cut my hair, and got the session from yesterday evening edited.
Yea. I’m awesome.
Hannah picked pretty much the perfect day for her senior photos…it was a little chilly, but other than that the weather was great. The light was TO DIE FOR, there was an occasional slight breeze that would barely blow her hair, and has anyone else noticed that the trees have FINALLY decided to change colors?
Perfect.
Oh, and her eyes…ridiculous.
I got a wild hair (har har) tonight and decided to chop off some hair. Nothing too drastic. My hair is been asymmetrical for a long time, so I cut off about two inches on the left side and now I kind of have a bob. And my bangs are starting to grow out, so I attempted a middle part for the first time since…uhh…like 10th grade.
It’s weird not having weird hair. (Other than the whiteness. haha.)
I may paint a bit before I go to sleep…not quite tired yet. Surprise surprise.
peace.

This little kidlet was too stinkin cute. She got out of the car and hid behind her momma’s leg, and within five minutes she had totally taken over the shoot…giving posing directions, choosing locations, and deciding when I did or didn’t need my ladder. It was absolutely hilarious.
And would you look at those eyes? I mean, really. This child can do no wrong with those big blue eyes.
I’m quickly learning that the shoot is over when your client starts making these faces.
I’ve had a lovely two days without shoots, now gearing up for a couple of shoots this weekend. (If mother nature decides to cooperate.) I’m not so pleased with today’s weather…in case I haven’t made this clear in previous years: I HATE winter. Yes, “hate” is a strong word. I am not a fan of the coldness, and just the general deadness. BLEH!
Woah, went on a rant there. Sorry.
Anyway. I’m slowly but surely getting more of my book done! I don’t want to share too much, but here’s another page:

I was asked if my book would be available for other people. Honestly…I don’t know. We’ll kind of play it by ear.
Oh! And I had one of my lovely blog readers mention the 52 Weeks project when I said something about doing 365. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that, but I officially joined the group about 30 minutes ago. So excited to start this! It’ll be nice to have a whole week to put some thought into it. I’ll be posting my weekly self-portrait here also (obviously). Here’s my submission for this week:
I’m terrible about following through with things…wish me luck. ;)
Lastly, I love these lyrics:
You live and learn
Me, well I learned to let go
Of parents and bosses and people who don’t want you to grow
I think that anything you want to, you can do
And no one’s gonna tell me just who the hell I should sing to
peace.
