Oooh, so so so many things to write about! I have a lengthy list of things I need to do before I leave for Ethiopia on Wednesday, but I needed to blog my little vacation first. :)

Had so much fun with some of my Ethiopia ’08 family on the cruise! There is no way I could blog everything that happened…but to skim the surface:
ate a peanut butter and bacon burger (I was impressed!) in New Orleans, Shay won $500 at bingo, I managed to get an awesome sunburn (I’m now sporting a literal “V” on my chest), got POURED on at the Mayan ruins and splashed in puddles outside the temples, took part in some incredible “professional” photos on the boat, swam with stingrays, freaked out about said stingrays and decided I am not a fan of the creatures, snorkeled, got called “Vanessa” by our guide and continued to answer to it, learned there is no way I can keep up with all the ridiculous things Laura says, won a plastic trophy for winning “Name That Tune”, carried around plastic trophy (dubbed “STP”) EVERYWHERE we went, had legit airbrush t-shirts made for our Ethiopia Family Reunion (photo to come soon)…but most of all, I got a little closer to my first Ethiopia fam.
(Insert “Awww” here.)

Being completely honest, I took maybe 6 photos the whole trip. (None of which I’m super proud of.) I think there’s a point you reach where it’s less “Look how cool I am, carrying around my big camera” and more “I am seriously not going to lug this thing around all day.” Ha. :) It spent the majority of the time in our room. I’ve realized how absolutely horrible I am about taking personal photos. More proof that I am weird.

So I stole everyone else’s photos.. :)

On a sad and unrelated note, I now only have three furbabies living with me. Rylan attacked Eden and Jane last Monday and she will have to go to an anger management class for dogs. So she is now living with Heather and Cash. I’m sad to not be able to see her every day (I’ve had her over three years), but I know she will be happier being an “only dog” and she loves Heather and Cash, so it ended up working out. Eden and Jane are both fine. Eden got pretty torn up and she’ll probably have some scars on her hind legs but she’s still running around like a doofus, per usual. So now I’m down to three Pitbulls.

Oh, and I finally got those lace bike shorts in. hahaaa. I decided to wear them under shorts and I got some super weird stares in Walmart today. Incredible.

Now I must go get everything knocked off my large to-do list…I leave for Dallas in less than 24 hours. Woops.

I leave you with this:

You’re welcome.

peace.

P.S. This creature is currently living outside my office window. It’s a good two and a half inches long, at least.

Hellooooo from New Orleans! :)

Heather and Cash and I had a splendid time Friday night with my two favorite Texas boys. Then I made the 8 hour drive yesterday from Dallas to New Orleans and now Jen and I are off to galavant around the zoo. EXCITED.

Just a quick reminder I’m leaving for a cruise tomorrow and won’t have access to my phone/internet, so I won’t be able to get to emails until I return on Saturday.

Have a lovely week. :) I’ll blog when I get back!

(Forgot my blow dryer. Of course.)

Ooooh, I cannot believe I will be in New Orleans this time next week! Miss Jen is taking me to the zoo. :) This coming Friday I get to spend some quality time with my favorite Texas brother, then the following Monday…it’s cruise time. “Excited” does not cover how I’m feeling.

I’ve already started packing for E-country, which…if you know me…it’s a big deal. I never pack early. I’m going to have about 1-2 days between the cruise and leaving for Ethiopia, so I’m trying to get as much done as I can, while I can.

Other than that, I have been completely eaten up by boredom the last few days. I’ve been painting a bit and doing some catching up on blogs, but I kind of miss having work to do. (Correction: SOME work to do.) Ah well. Trying to enjoy my downtime while I have it.

While I was in Nashville, I made a trip to Urban Outfitters and found these shoes.

I very very rarely pay full price for anything from UO (I heart sale racks), but I had to have them. I’ve wanted some oxfords for awhile but could never be sold on one pair…but oh dear, these are much better. And require no lacing.
I also got a cute skirt that reminds me of mermaids and a sweet little shirt.

I also just decided I need these from f21. They probably won’t be here before I leave, though. :(

Ha! I don’t know why, but I love them…the challenge will be figuring out how to wear them because they’re sheer. We shall see, we shall see.

Lastly, my birthday is in four-ish months if someone wants to get me an early b-day present from IKEA..

Just sayin.

Rode my bike for the first time in almost two years today.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be sprawled out on the couch under a fan..

peace.

P.S. These kids are rotten.

Rylan refused to let me take a photo of her. Little turd.

Oooh, there are no words for this last weekend. I always miss my Ethiopia ’08 family, but I never realize how much I need them in my life until I’m with them. haha! I laughed more this weekend than I have in a ridiculously long time…I really do feel like they’re my second family. I’m excited to be stuck on a boat with them for several days in a couple of weeks. :)

So let’s break down the weekend, shall we?

Thursday (Nashville, TN)
Tattoo time! I was super nervous about this one, and I apparently had every reason to be…holy hell, it hurt. I don’t even care if that makes me a wiener. I’ll have to tough it out though…I go back next month after I get back from Ethiopia to finish it up.

The red parts will eventually be tree colors…green and such. It’s going to be done like a watercolor! I’m pumped to see the final product.
(P.S. I got it done by Gage at Billy Joe’s Tattoos in downtown Nashville again. It’s worth the 11hr drive! There was an hour before we even started where midgets and utilikilts were discussed, as well as a tour of the creepy basement. I love that place.)

Friday (Chattanooga, TN)
Drove with Dana and met up with the rest of the fam to go to the Tennessee Aquarium. Dana and I made a bet the previous night and she lost. She had to walk like a penguin throughout the penguin exhibit. :)

(I have never uploaded a video on here. I hope that worked!)

We then proceeded to thoroughly piss off a cuttlefish. (Yes, that is the same creature in both photos.)
It may or may not have been on purpose.

Saturday (Cartersville and Atlanta, GA)

First we went to see baby Anna, the newest member of our Ethiopia family! Remember my sweet friend Gretchen? I was so excited to see her and her little one. :)

We then went to a Braves game, where I proceeded to sweat to the point where my shorts were wet (kinda gross, sorry), obtained an awesome sunburn line where my bangs sit across my forehead, and the couple in front of me inspired me to make a list of things I do not want in a future spouse. I was about to punch a fool.

But the Braves won and I was in good company. No complaints.

Sunday (Cleveland, TN)
Hung out with Dana’s family, who are incredible. I laughed so freaking much on Sunday, my abs still hurt.
And I just want to take this moment to point out how awesome Dana’s mom is…PLEASE LOOK AT THIS.

I was in awe. Moment of silence, everyone.

……………….

Continue.

So the drive back yesterday was nowhere near as fun as the weekend. I got one of these halfway through the drive..

This was about the 10th time I’ve been pulled over since I started driving 6.5 years ago. I don’t want to talk about it.

Alright, I’m off to be lazy. Going to OKC tomorrow to pick up some necessities for Ethiopia! I can’t believe I leave in three weeks. Unreal.

peace.
