This shoot really made me realize that we kinda skipped right over Spring and jumped straight into Summer…the humidity was UNREAL. And I think I walked away with no less than 10 mosquito bites. Regardless, twas a good shoot. :) I went to high school with Stacy and she’s still as sweet as she was then. And I think I called Shawn by the wrong name like three times.
I’m horrible with names, by the way. It’s slightly embarrassing.
Anyway…photos!
I unfortunately had two cancelled shoots this week, so it ended up being a week off. I’ve been enjoying the lazy time. :) Even cleaned out my car earlier! I’ve had the Cube six months and it had never been cleaned. Woops.
And now I’m gearing up to head to Dallas this weekend to shoot my third wedding. Nerves have already kicked in. Actually, they kicked in several days ago…I will probably puke at least once this weekend.. ha. (Kidding! I hope.. ) But I really am looking forward to it! Should be a fun challenge and something out of the norm for me, which I’m really needing lately.
Oh, and I also get to see this hoodlum.
Good times shall be had.
Now that I’ve rambled a bit…how about a giveaway?

Best coffee you will ever have in your life. (Not even joking. I take coffee seriously.) Straight from Ethiopia. I brought several bags (and by “several bags” I mean “a suitcase full”) back with me from E-country, and I have some left over.
Leave me a comment and let me know your name, email, and the one person in the world you would punch if you could get away with it. Mine would be Toby Keith. Bleeeh. PLEASE be sure to leave your name and email! No one did last time and I hunted down the winner. Lol.
I’ve picked a number, whoever comments on that number gets it.
Ready, set, go!!
peace.

Oooh, this shoot.
I’ve known Jessica for a few years, and we had booked a date for her engagement pictures several months before. The day came and…we had snow. ON THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING.
It was then that Jessica informed me that she thinks Mother Nature might hate her. Great. That made two of us. I stopped counting how many times this shoot got rescheduled after the 4th cancelled shoot because of weather.
So May 18th was our next attempt. The day rolled around, and we had a chance of rain. I went ahead and drove up to OKC anyway, completely thinking it would start raining and we’d have to cancel. I had even made plans with Heather because I just knew it was going to rain.
After a few hours and clear, beautiful skies I’m thinking “Holy crap, we’re actually going to have this shoot..”
Needless to say, everyone was totally caught off guard. I think Jessica and I are both in shock that it actually HAPPENED. But they turned out great, we were blessed with absolutely amazing weather, and fun was had. :)
Here’s the sneak peek, because I know Jessica is dying to see them…
Jessica is quite the classy lady. ;)

Oh, and Heather played assistant for me.
This is why I just shouldn’t have assistants.
I’ve been internetless for a week…I would just like to take this moment to say: Hughesnet really sucks. I’ve been having to drive ten minutes to my mom’s to steal her internet. I have to be “near the modem” when I call them for assistance…I don’t have phone service in my office. So, you know…that’s…just awesome. (Moral of this story: DO NOT USE HUGHESNET.)
Alright…I’m going to go find something productive to do with my day. I’m thinking I might make some cupcakes tonight and work on some paintings. :)
peace.

I’ve really been enjoying getting to shoot something other than seniors here lately. Seniors will probably always be my favorite subjects, but it’s nice to mix things up a bit. :)
Had a shoot with the lovely Barton kids last Sunday…super photogenic (and sweet!) kids, so the whole shoot was a breeze!
Just started editing the-engagement-shoot-we-thought-would-never-happen-because-mother-nature-hates-me…next post. :)
Oh, and I finished this last night..

I think she’s kinda cute. I’ll probably add more to it eventually.
Also, I finally got started on my little inspiration book I’m making. I’m not sure what else to call it other than an “inspiration book”…technically it’s a photo book, but there’s much more to it. All my Storypeople photos will be in it (with the stories, obviously), plus some personal favorite photos and little ramblings I’ve written over the last couple of years. It feels nice to have somewhere to put it all. I feel like if I could put my brain in a book…this will be it. Kinda excited. :) Hopefully I’ll be finished by the end of the year. So far I’ve done 24 pages…yikes. Lol.
I’m off to run some errands and head to Lawton with Heather…HOBBY LOBBY TIME!
peace.

How freaking beautiful is this girl? Her eyes kill me! We had some fairly yucky weather this week and this shoot was super humid, but she worked it quite well. :) Thanks for being my first Lawton High senior, Conner! I had a blast!
I have been in the biggest creative slump all week. I don’t know if it’s stress or the weather or the combination of both, but I feel like I’m riiiiggghht on the edge of burnout. I say this at the end of EVERY busy season, but…I need to learn how to pace myself. Lol. But I’ve decided not to take on any more shoots until September unless it’s an absolute emergency, so I can have some time to regroup. Still love my job as much as I always have, but I’m in one of those situations where I need to go back to why I started doing this in this first place. I don’t care for the money or any name it gives me…I just want to make things that make people feel something. And if I’m not feeling it, it’s going to be hard to make anyone else feel it. I hope that’s making sense. :)
I’m completely caught up on editing and orders, so tonight I’m doing something for fun. It involves these..

Hmm. :)
peace.
